Skeleton Keys

Breaking 'in' is hard to do

A very interesting research paper has been circulating the cryptography and science pages of the web that explains how to find the master key (4MB) for a large building or dorm. The paper is a quick read, about 10 pages and written for the layman. All the process takes is a handful of blanks, one normal key and the lock that it works, and some tools to cut the keys.

I’ve been looking on the web for resources to buy the tools to try this out, simply as a scientific exercise, but I’ve yet to find a cheap key cutting tool. I hope metal file skills are easy to learn.

While you’re performing your little scientific excercise see if you can pick me up one of those giant screen TVs. And maybe a bar monkey too.
