This castle game is getting a lot of buzz from Yarnold’s last post about addictive games.
The goal is to kill all the invaders before they break down your walls, take your women, eat your food, and call you a bitch. You can pick them up and fling them into the air or bounce them off the castle walls to generate the satisfying sound of their bones breaking. Finish the round and get point to buy upgrades. You can even save the game and play it later.
Pretty cool, just be careful about developing an acute case of carpal tunnel syndrome in your wrist.
- Once you build the temple, drop attacking enemies inside your castle to convert them.
- Once you build the archery range, click on the red flag to train converts into archers!
Regarding unexolained archer/convert loss:
It appears that each archer has a maintenance cost of 200 points per round. If your kill bonus (the number of casualties inflicted in a round x 10) is exceeded by the maintenance cost, then arhers are removed. I suspect that you are only allowed to have as many archers as can be supported by your kill bonus.
Note that only converts which have been staffed bear a maintenance cost. Those which are stored do not exact tribute.
I haven’t determined the cost of a wizard, demolition crewman, or repairer, but I suspect the 200 rule applies to them as well.
To keep from losing converts, simply take note of the kill bonus from the previous round, divide by 200, and make sure your total number of staffed converts does not exceed this quotient.
That is all.
archers = 200
craftsman = 50
wizards = 200 as well i beleive.. not positive though.
for all of you who think you are smart by having 30 wizards or something like that, your stupid.
i beleive 200 or 300 wizards alows you to do any spell over and over again without running out of “mana”. after getting that i reccomend keeping your archers and craftmans at the same amount, and trying to get about 1,000 of each. doing this you can beat any level with no effort.
Regarding unit maintainance cost: I would go with about 10 or more wizards as quickly as possible as this will allow you to use the magic nuke pretty often… almost makes it TOO easy
I prefer 45+ wizards for conversion purposes but evidently thats unsupportable. Damn. Who needs sleep?
ha… i prefer 150 wizards…
once you get 30 or so wizards you can convert enemys with a spell instantly… but costs whole mana bar at that ammount of wizards…
when you get about 150+ wizards you can covert almost constantly
well, it doesn’t hold a candle to age of empires or warcraft, but i’m officially addicted to this game.
Current level: 46
Mages: 155
archers: 650
Builders: 110
castle HP: 301400
Kills: 42000 +-
Money: 2927272
do i pwn this game? Methinks i do.
How the fuck do I keep my units, I always lose them when the big guys start comen and get screwed over…
ok u guys…this is simple…im on lv. 50 and i have 1150 archers, 510 mages, and 530 repair people…once you build your temple convert as many as you can…then once you get an archery range build archers (keep in mind it costs 200 points per archer, so save and dont build unless u have lots of extra)then build a mana pool
make as many mages as you can and dont buy anything until you can do spells like mad…then convert alot mor mages so you can insta-convert faster making hundreds of mages…once you hit about 400 you dont really need any mor and you can buy thoustands of archers…just dont buy anything until you are happy with you unit number and then u can buy the stuff, but u wont need it because they wont be able to get to your castle…hope i helped, if there is a flaw in my play email me…thx kkaxx %oO
Hi. I’m new to this but if anybody here knows how to use the mana pool or what it does (in defend your castle) can you email me and title the email Mana Pool please or i won’t gwt it. If you have any questions you can email me too cause i’m addicted with this games i’d be willing to help you if you can help me This is cool!
i just played for like an hour and i have 130 mages 140 archers and 50 builders my castle has 100000 hp and im on lvl 23 is there anymore enemys after the demelition dudes or is that it
man this game is cool …
this game never finishes, im on level 72 and it takes forever to get to the next round, does anyone know when it finsihes??
Demolition teams dont cost money after you buy their building, but they waste followers (which you will need on level 14 when the giants come) when wizard spells and enemy demo teams (enemy demo teams don’t come until about level 20) can do the same thing.
NOTE: there is a MAXIMUM on the number of enemies that can beat on the castle walls at once. (I don’t know whether or not this number changes with each level.) If you have the maximum number attacking and kill or convert one, another one of the same type will appear on screen about 15 seconds later. Once you have enough carpenters to repair the damage done by the maximum number of enemies still have enough repair power to repair the damage from enemy demo teams, even a castle with low max hp (mine has 8,000) and NO ARCHERS can survive the wave without clicking.
NOTE: enemy demo teams will blow up enemy units ONLY if you click on them or your archers shoot them. If they reach your castle they will die and do a lot of damage and not hurt other enemies.)
If you can manage to survive long enough to get lots of carpenters (100+) and wizards without buying any archers (not easy), then there is no need to let any enemies except demo teams die. You can convert EVERY normal enemy, battering ram guy, and giant that comes on screen! With 130 wizards you can convert nonstop and rack up almost infinite followers and points.
PS: Has anyone found any enemies after enemy demo teams?
The number of points you get for converting an enemy is about 240 higher than the points for killing them.
Anyone who buys something else before the temple SUCKS! Sure, you can make a remote arguement for buying raised walls or repairs first, but that’s stupid. And the archery range, demolition lab, workshop, and mana pool all require converts to do anything other than wave a flag! And whats the only way to get followers when you have less than 15 wizards? With the temple of course!
You cant pick up giants: clicking on them only makes them trip. However, there are 6 ways to kill them and 1 way to convert them:
1. Your archers kill them.
2. You detonate your demo teams near them.
3. You use the wizards’ death spell on them.
4. They are in the blast radius of (or are the target of) a demolition spell you use.
5. You click on an enemy demo team and they are in its radius
6. Your archers shoot an enemy demo team and they are close to it.
7. (CONVERSION) use the wizard convert spell on them
NOTE: tripping the giants is a convenient way to hold them off while you wait for your archers to kill them or for more enemies to get near them so you can kill them all with one demolition spell. However, THE GIANTS ARE IMMUNE TO EXPLOSIONS WHILE KNEELING. This is especially bad if you are relying on demolition teams!
what I did was just hold off on buying anything till I got temple convert till I had enough for mana pool then trained wizards to get conversion, archer range came next and now just load up on archers, I have over 2000 archers 150 wizards and 150 workguys, I get as many conversion as I want by just holding the courser on the side of the screen and just tapping 3 and right clicking. I am up to level 68 and still don;t really touch the mouse unless I feel like I want mroe guys. no one makes it more than half way and if they do my workers repairs. my walls are 858000 in strenght
YOU DON’T GET POINTS DIRECTLY FROM ENEMY DEMO TEAMS. You get points for the enemies killed in their blast, but not them themselves. This means you dont get points for them crashing into the castle.
I earlier noted that there was a maximum number of enemies that could attack the castle at once. I also noted that if you have enough carpenters to hold off those enemies and repair damage from enemy demo teams, you can survive the wave without clicking even if you have no archers and few fortification upgrades. While I maintain that the no archers strategy is challenging yet rewarding, I DO NOT ADVISE ANY ARCHER-FREE PLAYER TO ACTUALLY GO A WHOLE LEVEL WITHOUT CLICKING. Even if you have enough carpenters to survive without clicking, if you dont have archers and don’t click, then no enemies will die (Except enemy demo teams) and your kill bonus will be zero and all your followers will die at the end of the level.
Ok, so what should the order be that I buy stuff. Should I just get a temple, then a mana pool, then just keep training wizards. Or is there a better way? Cause I can only get to level 14
first get temple, and then convert as many as you can before you get archery range, then you should have about 10 archers to help you, make sure you don’t lose them though. next get the workshop with some people to repair your castle then mana pool after and once you have about 400 wizards and 500+ archers and craftsman you should start upgrading your walls (never get demolition lab unless you really have alot of un-needed points)
I do fine, untill I get to level 15 then like 30 wizards get killed, whats up. Why do they die, I know there’s a post about it but I don’t understand it
Honestly, I think the posts about how maintenance work are wrong. I think (not certain, only a theory) that however many points you start the level with is how many you can pay your trained henchemen. (200 per archer, 200 per wizard, 50 per carpenter) So, if you have trained henchmen, look at your maintenence cost. You must have at least that much when you start the next wave. So, the maximum you can spend on fortifications and stuff is whatever puts you at the maintenence cost, and you must spen less than that if you plan on training henchmen next level.
If my theory is correct, then before you start a level, you should check how much money you have and see how much more it is than what you had when you STARTED the PREVIOUS level. However much more it is, thats the maximum amount of maintenence the henchmen you TRAIN in the level you are starting can cost.
I repeat, this is only a theory. It’s also possible that the maximum maintenence (without henchmen dying) is the sum of the points you start the level with AND your kill bonus, or I could be completely wrong. However, when I follow my theory, MY HENCHMEN DON’T DIE.
what the hell does ‘unit upkeep’ mean??
it is the total cost of your units.
archers-200
wizards-200
worker-50
demoguy-free (but just use the blast spell instead dont waste converts)
Watch America’s Funniest Home Videos while playing! The first thing you do is save up money until you can get the temple. You then continue to save up points converting units at every chance with just the temple, until you get 40k points. Then you buy a mana pool and start producing wizards. Start with 20 for the first round, add 20 each round until you ahve 100. After that you can add as many as you want, but try to watch your points. At around 300 wizards you should start producing archers. 250 of them will suffice, and 100 repairmen eventually as well. After this you should be around level 20 and should have enough points to fortify your castle to at least 20,000 total hits. Then you can walk away and watch America’s Funniest Home Videos. When you come back every commercial break click save and then ok to start the next level.
Hello, this is Bob Sagget again. Before you go watch America’s Funniest Home Movies, click on that Q in the lower right hand corner of the screen. By lowering the quality everything moves faster, but the timer for how long the level lasts is unaffected. So you can get more kills in less time. SEe? THis will guarantee 5 million points by stage 35. When WILL THE MADNESS END!
As archangel714 said, USE 1, 2, AND 3 AS HOTKEYS FOR THE WIZARD SPELLS.
Unit upkeep is like maintenance or rations; you pay it in points for all trained followers at the end of the level. (200 for archer, 200 for wizard, 50 for carpenter)
Ok listen. If you want to know why your guys die is because you dont have enough money to support them. All you need to do is save like 5-10k (if you have like 40 or 50 guys with jobs in all) And go from there, just watch the upkeep cost.
Oh by the way make sure you use the hot keys like Todd said, cause you could probably get about 100+ guys on maybe lvl 25 with about 200 wizards. After about 3 or 4 lvls of doing nothing but recruting you will have plenty of followers, I know cause I was able to go from 300 archers to 750, and still had plenty to spare =)
Right now I am only lvl 31 750 archers | 100 carpenters | 200 wizards | 3319k kills | 844k gold | 17k casualties | ???(?) Followers
Two things.
First, the enemy demo teams can’t hurt other enemies if your archers shoot them, only if you touch them.
Also, some of my guys did die when I used that strategy. My advice is to follow my advice for the previous post, only divide by two first. Also, save every level that your guys dont die so that if they do, you can work harder and build less in that level when you reload and play it again.
how do u use the archers? I press the little flag thing and it says i have like ten or whatever, but they dont appear. Where are they??
Boring once you get to the point when you can let it go and not even play anymore…what’s the point then? Is there an END? What’s the highest level anyone’s gotten to before giving up?
By the way….don’t bother buying the demolition factory or whatever it is…not needed whatsoever! And a big waste of people!
Hey, are there any other enemies after the bombarders? I’m in level 52 with 950 archers,
700 wizards, 400 craftsmen, but still no new enemy units!
Well, about level 24, 300 magicians, 250 archers, 150 repairmen…..... And it’s pretty much running itself!
hehe ive played for 6hours straight and im on level 90 i have 900 of all ppl and i just let it run itself hehe
btw if you go 2 http://www.xgenstudios.com forums, all your questions will be answered… also. you can only have 150 untrained followers. and the dude whos theory was all about… $ from the previous level, he is right. and wizards suck archers rule, i have 500 archers, 150 wizzies, and 500 karpernters
I have no clue when this game ends I have made it to well over level 250 but never finished it.
Yeah im on lvl 28 now with 150 wizards, 350 archers, and 150 craftsmen. That’s all i need for it to run itself. I’m going to see how long I can keep it going before my computer melts.
I would say, buy everything except the demolition range. Get tons of archers, around 100 mages and 100 builders. Never spend money on repairs, the builders do it free. I am currently on stage 49, it is pretty easy, all you have to do is convert guys, your units do the work!
units die at the end of a level if you don’t have enough money for upkeep. Costs are as follows: 200 per mage, 100 per archer and 50 per builder. Those prices are due at the end of each stage.
I’ve only made it to lvl 165, with all units in the thousands. I’ve heard of a guy reaching lvl 1600+, but who knows if it was sincere or not. The creator was pretty open about the whole ‘unit upkeep/unit loss’ ordeal from the beginning, so i’m not sure why anybody was confused.
I’ve set up a very minimalistic self-sustaining castle. I have:
100 archers
100 wizards
200 repairmen
My walls are at 100,000 strength.
With this small amount of preparation, the game has been playing itself since level 23. I haven’t touched it (during game-play) since then.
I feel like it might go forever…

To be honest, I can’t overuse the mana regeneration that 100 mages gives! There are 2 approaches to the game if you want to reach the end with minimal manual effort
1. Train many archers, few builders
2. Train a fairly equal amount of builders and archers.
With either of these you can leave the game to stand after each round, however using method 1 makes it difficult to convert more men using the mage spell, because they die too damn fast. You should only need to check on your game every 3 or so stages to see how much your castles HP goes down, Mine has 400,000health or something silly, with 30 craftsmen, the demolition guys only deal one pixel of damage, and about one in 100 get through (Stage 41), So it’s a game of determination to get to some sort of memorable milestone
Note: I have under 600 archers 30 craftsmen which allows me to go afk after each stage, incase you want to do the same thing, peace !

Okay after a few hours of passively clicking and mindlessly trying to gain a few more men out of boredom, I am thinking I could’ve done it a better way.
Currently stage 60,
1000 archers, 100 mage, 100 craftsmen.
It’s all I need, and because the archers kill the guys so fast, it’s hell trying to covnert more, so if you’ve just started your game, train a lot of craftsmen and mages and castle HP, so you can convert all of the enemies piled up at your door, don’t forget you can nuke ‘em if your castle gets damaged too much, it should return to full hp within seconds if you have enough craftsmen. Just a tip, been on it all day
it’s currently running as I type this. xD

Denmark’s Strategy Guide:
1) Buy Temple
2) Buy Mana Pool
3) Buy Demolition Range
4) Buy Wall Fortifications
The archers are not very useful unless you have a lot of them (10+) which gets hard to replace every time you (for some unexplained reason) lose them.
Instead use the explosion you get from the wizards to clean out big groups. when the big dudes come in (the ones you can’t pick up – around stage 15 they add one per stage. Gets pretty hairy after stage 20), you’ll have to use the magic unit kill, the magic explosion or the demo man to blow them up. It took me a while to figure out how to use the demo peeps – just click one of your converted people under the ‘health bar’ for your castle and he’ll come running out of the gates strappin’ a dynamite girdle. Click him to start the fireworks.
Around Stage 18 or 19, you see little black demo guys running AT your castle from the other way. They work the same as your own demo men and come in quite handy if you time it right.
Right now I’ve just completed Stage 20 with three-quarter million points and just shy of 4K kills… this was my lunch break
I’ll post some proof at the end of the day after work.
